Everyday, Acceptable Evil

Image result for farm animal cruelty
Today, as I was browsing Twitter, looking to return the likes and retweets of those who had liked and retweeted things I wrote on my "animal liberation" twitter account, which is here: https://twitter.com/TheBaldVegan ,I saw horrible images of animals suffering at the hands of humans.  I had seen such images before, of course; it's why I became a vegan.  Nevertheless, they are horrible images.  One video bothered me especially.  It showed a chick hung upside down by her feet: moving along in a factory-like setting.  I've seen stuff like that before: chicks on conveyor belts: literally being treated like they are things: not living, breathing earthlings.  Not only are they treating animals like that; they are baby animals!!!  Evil!!!
When people treat animals horribly, it is evil.  That's the right word.  We have every advantage over them.  They are the underdogs.  It is the same thing as a large man imprisoning, beating, and torturing a tiny, young child repeatedly: with no relief.  Animals like pigs, cows, and chickens are helpless against evil people.  They only have the rights we choose to give to them.  Pets get some (not enough), and "food" animals get nearly none.  If people knew about the Holocaust and supported it financially, there'd be no question that they were evil.  They'd be tried as war criminals, and they'd probably be executed.  But that's what meat eaters routinely do.  Every time they buy meat, they support the holocaust against animals.  They support heinous animal cruelty.  And it's so acceptable, that many of them don't even feel badly about it.
I mentioned here that a couple of coworkers wanted to have dinner with me.  I said okay, but only if they agreed to at least eat vegetarian that meal.  They refused indignantly.  How dare I ask them to eat vegetarian for one meal!  That's completely unreasonable!  I certainly wasn't willing to compromise my principles, so I didn't join them.  At work, I have to be around people that are eating meat.  I refuse to do it in my free time.
Even though it happened years ago, I still recall this incident when I went out to eat with some coworkers.  One of them ordered a meat dish, but he didn't finish it.  He left a pile of beef on his plate.  It didn't bother him at all that the flesh was going to be tossed into the trash.  He was smiling, laughing, and having a great time.  That really bothered me.  I think people eating meat is wrong, but I despise when they waste it.  It is so disrespectful to the suffering the animals, that were the source of that meat, were forced to endure.
I'm not popular.  I have no friends.  There are plenty of coworkers I don't talk to.  Why should I?  They eat meat with smiles on their faces.  I saw a coworker dancing while he was eating chicken: so disrespectful.  They contribute to the suffering of animals without a second thought.  They are evil.
And the literary expression of my anger, depression, and frustration about animal crutelty is Veganman, which is here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZSHNT5I

Unpunished Crimes

Image result for farm animal cruelty
As my neighbors have been forcing me to smell the tortured flesh of animals cooking for hours now, I realized that there have been countless unpunished crimes committed against animals.  If one hired a hitman to kill one's wife or husband, the law deems that to be a serious crime that should be punished accordingly.  But that's exactly what people are doing when they buy meat.  They are paying someone to kill animals.  It should be a crime: a serious one.  However, the way animals are treated, like in factory farms, before they are murdered makes it a far worse crime than hiring a hitman to kill a person.  At least the victim of a hitman is free to live their life the way they want to before they are murdered.  Animals are confined, and treated, very cruelly prior to their murders.
What's even worse is extreme cruelty against animals is so commonplace, that these meat-eating monsters don't even think they're doing anything wrong.  The animals they eat, and, by extension, terrorize, must mean absolutely nothing to them.  They're out of sight and out of mind.  As long as I'm not being treated like that, I don't care.  Maybe that's what they're thinking, if they're even thinking anything about the animals they're killing.  They throw meat in the trash without a second thought.  I don't know if there will ever be an antidepressant powerful enough to allow me to be content to live in a world that's full of sociopaths.

A Solution

They would make great pets.
It occurred to me that there is a solution to a couple of problems that I feel strongly about.  I have gone on, at length, here about how I feel about procreation, and that it is an act of cruelty when humans bring people or animals into this world of violence, pain, and misery.  So instead of bringing babies into this world, how about adopting a pet?  They bring great joy.  Some of my happiest memories are playing with dogs I have known.  Pets improve one's quality of life.  They reduce stress.  All you have to do is pet them and cuddle with them.  People who have pets live longer than those who don't.  They make life better.  And, unfortunately, there are tons of unwanted dogs and cats languishing in shelters.  There's another way of looking at that, though: as an opportunity.  They deserve good homes.
Perhaps adopt an unconventional pet.  I love it when people have pigs as pets.  It shows people how pigs SHOULD be treated: with love and kindness: not cruelty and violence.  I read that hens make great pets, because they are soft to the touch, and they don't peck.  God knows they have a right to peck us, considering what we've done, and continue to do, to them.
Of course, you should only adopt a pet if you, and everyone in your home, are willing to treat that animal as well as you possibly can for the rest of his or her life.  If you want to get a pet, but you live with someone who doesn't want one, then that is a problem.  The person who doesn't want the pet could end up being abusive toward him or her if you went through with the adoption.  There's always the possibility of getting rid of the person.
And, obviously, there is the option of adopting a human kid who needs a home.  While I believe that biological parents are selfish, I think that good adoptive (non-biological) parents are heroes.
And the sound of a barking dog just reminded me-be a responsible pet parent.  I was walking by a park the other day.  A couple of proud Canadian geese parents were watching over their babies.  It was a beautiful sight.  But then I saw 2 small dogs, off leash, approaching the area were the baby geese were.  I almost said something to the pet parents.  I hope the dogs didn't' bother the geese.  The poor parents were probably scared as hell for their babies.  I imagine that the goose parents could have scared the dogs away if they needed to, but the pet parents shouldn't let them bother the geese, and that's the point I'm trying to make.

Double Selfish Monstrosities!

Image result for family eating meat
Aaaaaaaaaaaah!!!  That was a scream of pain, frustration, and despair.  It's official.  It's happened again.  I dread going to work.  The best thing about my workplace is dogs are allowed to be there.  Also, a very cute little girl with a lot of curly blonde hair recently blew a kiss to me.  So it only sucks 99% of the time.
I don't talk very much to my coworkers, because I don't wish to participate in certain recurring sorts of conversations.  They frequently talk about the meat they like to eat.  What am I supposed to say to that?  "I hope you fucking choke on it" comes to mind.  They also talk about their kids and grandkids.  They show pictures as well.  What do I say to that?  "Now, just how many kids have you brought into this brutal, miserable world to suffer?"  That's what I mean by double selfish monstrosities.  Eating meat is selfish, because it's cruel, and you don't need it to survive.  Bringing babies into this fucked-up, dangerous world is selfish.  Procreating is arguably the most selfish thing you can do.  Or perhaps eating meat is.  They're both way up there.  But, unfortunately, for people and animals alike, it's the norm.  It's typical.  And that's what these people are: typical.  They bore and anger the fuck out of me.

Meat Eaters Are Nazis

Image result for animal cruelty
People who buy meat and leather are quite similar to Nazis.  It's very easy to walk into a store and purchase such items (Apparently all too easy on the perpetrator's conscience as well, that is, if they even have consciences.), but when one does so, one supports the ongoing, horribly widespread animal holocaust, which, unfortunately for the affected animals, doesn't seem to have an end in sight, because there are far too many people who, instead of not caring about Jews, don't care about animals like chickens, cows, turkeys, and pigs (to name only a few species).  Second-World-War concentration camps are quite similar to factory farms.  Both of them contain(ed) pain, suffering, violence, horrible conditions, slim to none medical treatment for their victims, an obvious lack of concern for the victims' well being, and, of course, murder.
I'd rather not be similar to a Nazi.  You're either part of the solution or part of the problem.  There is no middle ground.

Taking a Stand

Image result for taking a stand
To be sung to the tune of the chorus of Jethro Tull's "Skating Away on the Thin Ice of the New Day-"
Taking a stand
Taking a stand
Taking a stand on the new land with a plan

A couple of work friends asked me to have dinner with them in a restaurant.  Not surprisingly, both of them are meat eaters.  I insisted that they order no meat at the restaurant.
"That's not fair," my coworker replied to my request.  Your meat eating is not fair to the animals you're eating.  She also said, "You're around people eating meat here."  We were in our workplace's break room.
"I have to be around it here," I replied.  Because I have to work and make money to support myself.  I don't have to be around shit like that on my free time.
I hardly ever eat out anyway, and that's fine.  I don't enjoy being served by a server who's being fake nice to me in order to get as big a tip as possible: not my idea of a good time.  It ain't cheap, either, and I am.
My coworker thought my request was unreasonable.  So, instead of being at the restaurant with them tonight, I'm alone, writing, and listening to metal.  I don't want to sit at a table with people who are eating meat.  People eating meat and wearing leather offend me.  What's even worse is when it's wasted.  How can I enjoy myself when I'm worried one, or both, of them is going to waste meat?  Throwing meat in the trash is so disrespectful.  The animals who provided that meat suffered in vain whenever that happens: truly heinous.

You Got What You Deserved: Part 2

Image result for got what you deserve
You're a shitty biological parent.  You conceived accidently.  You never loved your son.  You didn't prepare him for life in our competitive, complicated society.  As a result, he's lived a life of pain, poverty, and depression.  He hates you for bringing him into this fucked-up world.  He comes into your home at night, keeps you hostage, and tortures you for quite a while before he commits suicide right in front of you.  You got what you deserved.

You're a hunter.  You love to shoot at beautiful, innocent, defenseless animals.  You plan to hunt till the day you die, and that's exactly what happens.  You are shot to death by another hunter.  You got what you deserved.

You're a mentally-competent adult meat eater.  You love meat.  You'll never stop eating it.  You think animals are lesser earthlings than you and other people.  You don't care about their suffering.  While you were riding your motorcycle, dressed in your leathers, a car hit you, and now you're severely disabled.  You got what you deserved.

Cretins

 Image result for cretins
I've been trying to promote Veganman lately.  I've been emailing lots of vegan/animal rights websites and asking them to help get the word out.  I've gotten some positive responses.  I even got a great review from someone who read the book in one sitting.  But I've encountered cretins too.  My Googles have unintentionally brought their slimy selves to the surface.  There's a group on Facebook called "I love animals but hate animal rights activists."  It absolutely disgusted me.  They are probably all meat eaters that are fine with the way animals are currently being treated, which, in many cases, is horrendously.  Whoever liked that page, and there was a depressing amount that did, is a piece of shit, and whoever started it is a colossal piece of shit.  I briefly thought about leaving a comment, then thought better of it.  Those cretins aren't worth my time.
In fact, one of my Facebook "friends" (I don't really know her.  It just goes to show how fake and phony our culture has become.  By the way, I only joined FB to promote my writing.)  responded to a post of mine.  I came across this website that listed Rachael Ray as one of the top 10 animal rights activists: unbelievable!  The bitch cooks dead animal flesh on her show!  She's gotten rich as a result of showing people how to make dead meat delicious.  So I posted what a crock of shit that was.  This is the exchange:
Me: Unbelievable! This stupid website, beliefnet, listed Rachael Ray as one of the top 10 animal rights activists! She cooks meat on her TV show! I left an incredulous comment, which quickly got pushed past the positive ones. What a bad joke.
Her: I eat meat doesnt make me any less a protector of Animals!!
Me: You're not protecting the animals you're eating. That's for sure
Her: Strange logic!
Me: Not at all. When you buy meat, you're supporting animal cruelty. There's no way around it.
Her: No im a meat eater and being a veggie doesnt stop animals being killed!!
Me: When you buy meat, you're paying "people" to keep animals in horrible conditions. Are you somehow not aware of the horrible ways in which "food" animals are treated? You're also paying them to murder them. We don't need meat to survive. Eating meat is cruel.
Her: (no response)
Then I found (wasn't looking for it) a website that complained about how animal rights activists are driving up the cost of meat, eggs, and so on.  I could only read so much of it.  Someone bitched and moaned that eggs were more expensive cause a law was passed that gave hens more space in their cages (They're still in CAGES!).  Also felt like responding there, but didn't.  Hey, asshole, if eggs are too expensive, how about NOT buying them, you stupid cretin!

This is Veganman

Don't judge a book by its cover.
The book I wrote, Veganman, is available here on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZSHNT5I It's available on other countries' Amazon websites too.
This is the description I wrote for Veganman:
There is no book like this one. It is the definitive animal liberation novel. This book informs while it entertains. It’s violent, because it is an attempt to show people how animals are treated by treating humans the same way. This is an expression of vegan and vegetarian anger. Sadly, it’s not any more violent than the way animals are treated by people every single day. This is the rare story that’s more about animals’ happiness than people’s happiness. This is fiction for a reason. It’s fiction from the heart. Numerous ways in which animals are treated cruelly are addressed. This is a strange book. One chapter might contain violence, because it was necessary to liberate the animals. However, the next chapter might be quite different, because it shows how things have improved greatly for the liberated animals. This book is both an animal lover’s dream and an animal abuser’s nightmare. It’s a result of the author’s love for all animals; he is trying to change the world for their benefit. However, you don’t have to be a vegan to enjoy this story. It’s fresh, original, well-written, well-researched, packed with action, and even funny at times.
As a result of becoming aware of animal cruelty, Mike became a vegan. He read books and learned much about the many different ways in which people mistreat animals. Since people don’t need to eat meat, he became convinced that it was wrong to do so. He dedicated himself to helping animals in need: especially those living in horrible conditions under the control of humans. He used the traditional, non-violent methods to try to change hearts and minds about the way we treat animals, but, when that failed, he realized he needed to become the first true animal liberation soldier. He sent a letter to several media organizations that warned people to become vegans or face consequences. Only after he killed his first two victims, a butcher and a fur shop owner, did the media report the existence of the letter. He continued to punish “enemies of animals.” He also attempted to recruit people to join him. Eventually, people did join him, and the Animal Liberation Organization became a force to be reckoned with. Mike, now Veganman, led by blogging. Activist computer experts made sure his blog was virtually invisible to anyone who hadn’t been authorized to see it. Veganman blogged about different sorts of animal cruelty. The purpose of the blog was to help any animals that needed it. He also commanded his soldiers to liberate animals and punish any humans who got in the way. The liberated animals were transported to spacious sanctuaries where they would be taken care of by real animal lovers. The activists turned the tables on people who abused, or paid others to abuse, animals. They needed funding, so he ordered activists to rob people who had made considerable sums of money at the expense of animals. This fortune provided them with the means to fulfill their wildest animal rescue fantasies. What began with one man became a revolution.
Thanks for all the page views.

You Are an Animal

Just like us, bald eagles like to go to the beach.
And so am I.  Don't you see all the things we have in common with animals?  Many of them, like us, have 4 limbs.  I could go on forever: nose, mouth, eyes, ears, blood, heart, lungs, drink water, eat food, sleep, excrete, breathe and so on.  We're animals.  We just happen to be the worst this world has ever seen.  What species of animals has done more damage to the world than we have?  Some of us have been greedy, selfish, and vicious to a point that any other animal couldn't even imagine, let alone match.
They belong here as much as we do.  There's a whole food chain, and all of us fit into it.  Of course we keep messing it up by introducing invasive species to places where they don't belong.  We just do what we want: usually only thinking of ourselves.
People who love animals are merciful, gentle people.  If we weren't, then we would be terrorists.  We'd be shooting up steak houses, butcher shops, and fur stores.  I watch the news often, and I've heard about a lot of shootings and terrorist attacks, but never one that was perpetrated in the name of animal rights or liberation.  Sure, I've heard about Animal Liberation Front members breaking in to labs, rescuing the captive animals, then burning the place down to the ground after all the animals had been removed.  That's my idea of a hero.  I've read about how animals are treated in labs.  They are maimed, tortured, and killed.  It's 100% wrong to experiment on live animals.  If you don't have a problem with it, then I don't have a problem with scientists experimenting on your children.  Educate yourself on the subject.  It is wrong to torture animals: period.  They should have the right to be free and live natural lives.  Ever put yourself in the place of the animals being experimented on in labs?  If so, your life would likely be a complete nightmare.
They say the pen is mightier than the sword; I hope so.  I haven't seen many sword-wielding animal rights activists.  Those of you who aren't vegetarians, and feel no need to make any sacrifices on behalf of animals (my brothers and sisters), just realize how angry us real animal lovers are at selfish people like you.

Worse Than I Thought

I think these youngsters have been chased away from here.
I realized today, with sadness, that Betsy might have chased all of her children away except for Runty.  Lately, I've only seen her fat ass and Runty.  It's so sad the way groundhogs come and go around here.  Well, it's not sad when they arrive, but it certainly is when they go.  I haven't seen 4 of her children in quite a while.
I gave Runty that name because he has the thinnest fur of any groundhog I've ever seen.  I have previously referred to Runty as a female, but I have a feeling he's a male.  I assumed he was female, because that's the way I do things.  If I don't know the sex of an animal, I assume that he or she is a female, because lots of people seem to be more protective of their sisters, mothers, wives, girlfriends, and daughters.  I saw a documentary about one of the founders of PETA: Ingrid Newkirk.  She said that animals are never its; they're hes or shes.  I agree wholeheartedly.
There's plenty of grass for lots of groundhogs, but I guess Betsy doesn't feel that way.  I suppose her children aren't cute enough for her anymore.  I love her, but I don't love her mothering technique.
I sure hope Runty's fur grows in well eventually.  I don't want him to be too cold when winter comes.  Who could he snuggle with?  His mother Betsy?  Perhaps not.  She might be the worst groundhog mother I've ever seen.
I did read what this guy wrote.  He wrote that groundhogs kill em' all and let god sort them out.  I've seen plenty of groundhog on groundhog violence, and I think I've seen lots of battle scars on little groundhogs.  It's so sad.  They're so cute, but they're lives are filled with fear and violence.  Again, I draw the line when it comes to human on groundhog violence.  I'm willing to get into a fistfight to protect a groundhog or any animal.  They're my brothers and sisters.  They belong on this planet at least as much as we do.
Okay now, black people have demanded their rights and gotten them.  Same thing with women: and now gay people.  It's the animal's turn: all of them.

Good Deed for the Day

I won't let them hurt my groundhog friends.
We should be guardian angels for all the animals out there who need our help.  I heard some kids talking.  Their voices were coming from an area that contains the hole/home for a mother and her 5 baby groundhogs.  I had to see what they were doing.  I looked out the window.  They were throwing rocks and glass toward the hole.  I said "Leave them alone!"  The kids looked at me.  "What are you doing?"  I asked.
"Filling it up," said one of the kids.
I said, "No, don't do that.  There are little animals living in there.  Leave them alone."   The oldest of the kids looked at me with what seemed to be defiance, but I think they listened to me.  Then they ran off to somewhere else.
I had to go down and see if things were okay for my groundhog friends.   It wasn't okay.  The kids had thrown many rocks, pieces of glass, and sticks into the hole.  I can't believe how efficiently they blocked the hole.  Of course I removed as much as I could, and I tossed the rocks and glass underneath a nearby bush, because this was the second time I saw people throwing rocks at groundhogs, so if I hide them, maybe they'll have nothing to throw at them.
It must have been a very traumatic experience for my groundhog friends.  These kids put so much debris in that hole, and blocked it so completely, that if they couldn't dig their ways out, they might have starved to death.  Maybe they'd even be forced to cannibalize each other.
So you see how animals can use our help.  Everything happens for a reason.  It's not just chance that I, someone who loves animals, would live right next to a groundhog hole.  I am my brother's keeper.  I think only one groundhog has come out so far today.  Poor things must be terrorized.  It's such a shame that people, especially kids, would attack animals.  It's such typically crappy human behavior.
Anyway, maybe I'll have a chance to do more good things, but I've guess I've done at least one good deed today.  I got those kids to leave the groundhogs alone, and I cleared lots of rocks and glass out of their way so they could get out the usual way.  Try to do good deeds for animals, it feels good.

The Bald Vegan

The bald vegan eats neither bunnies nor baby groundhogs
I want this to be a fun blog, but I can't help trying to make a difference in the lives of animals.  They need so much help.  People continue to be completely outraged by the (human) holocaust.  Unfortunately, countless animals have been enduring their own holocaust for many years now, and still it continues.  And if you're offended that I'm comparing the plight of animals to the holocaust, then you have offended me, because you obviously think that the lives of people matter, and the lives of animals do not.  I wouldn't say the following about anyone who's physically or mentally handicapped, dealing with a major disease like cancer, elderly to the point of being hopelessly set in their ways, or children.  So this is for everyone else; anyone who eats meat is either ignorant or selfish.  You're either ignorant of the suffering that you are causing in the animal world, or you know about it, and you just don't care, which would make you selfish.  Virtually no one needs to eat meat.  Therefore, the eating of it is a selfish and destructive act.
It's even more selfish when you consider what Peter Singer wrote in his classic Animal Liberation.  This one piece of information blew my mind.  If everyone stopped eating meat, we could end world hunger.  Vast amounts of acres are taken up by food which is grown for pigs, cows, chickens, etc.  If we ceased to intentionally bring these animals into this world for the purposes of our consumption, then all that food that would have gone to the animals can now be used to feed hungry people.  I'm not suggesting starving the existing livestock.  But if most people stopped eating meat, it would greatly reduce the demand for animal flesh, so less animals would be brought into the world to eat the staggering amounts of food grown for them.  This makes the extra food available for human consumption.  Obviously, we could easily control animal populations by separating males from females.
I really don't anticipate posting recipes and stuff like that.  I'm pretty sure there's plenty of that around anyway.  Besides, I don't cook.  I just heat things up.  I'm sure I'm coming off like a jerk to some degree, but I can't help it.  I've seen the footage of animals suffering, and I've read books about it.  It angers me to know that so many people could help put an end to it, but they obviously don't care.  The animal rights movement has been going on for a long time now, and I suppose that people have been against animal abuse as long as people have existed.  But we've always been too small of a minority: too easy to ignore or ridicule.  Change is necessary.  Minorities, women, and gay people have all had to fight for the rights that they should have had in the first place.  Animals, especially food animals, don't really have any rights and they are not able to fight for them.  Those of us who would fight for them need to be strong and persistent.  Baby steps are not enough.  Baby steps are what have been made for over a hundred years now and the animals are still trapped in hell.  If you eat meat, then I implore you to become a vegetarian.  It's not just good for the animals, it's good for your health.  Omitting eggs from your diet is the next easy step.  Giving up foods that have milk in them was the hardest part of becoming vegan for me.  I prefer milk chocolate to dark chocolate and I love the flavor of mozzarella cheese.  But vegans have many delicious options to choose from.  Besides, if you're an adult, shouldn't you have some discipline when it comes to what you eat?

Just in Case

if you're here from twitter because i stopped posting, i ask that you NOT ask twitter or anyone to do a wellness check on me. i wouldn...
