Life

Spring brings the return of the groundhogs.
Oh my god, life.  Is it better to have been born or to have never been born?  I believe it is the latter.  The good times never last, and the bad times dominate the scene.  Pain, pain, pain--there's never a shortage.  Thank goodness I've never brought any people or animals into this cruel, violent, cold, and brutal world.  Did Mother Theresa ever bring people or animals into this world?  I know not.  This blog is not about research; it is about laziness.  I assume she didn't bring people into this world, becasue I assume she was one of Jesus' women.  I'm thinking this out as I write.  My point was that she wouldn't be a saint (in my eyes) if she had brought people and/or animals into this world to suffer.
I'm not the only one who feels this way.  In one of Woody Allen's classic movies, his character said (paraphrasing from memory), "The way I see it, there are the horrible and the miserable.  The horrible are handicapped, blind, deaf people and such, while the miserable is everyone else."
There is so much pain out there.  How could it possibly be measured?  I've written about suicide here before.  It fascinates me.  After all, I've attempted it, I've contemplated it many times, and I've read about it.  There are tons of suicides going on every day.  That's why I've written this, and I'll write it again.  (Biological) parenthood is the big lie.  It is oh so acceptable to be a human parent on earth, even common, but what are they really doing?  Biological parents are bringing their babies into a cruel, violent, and sadistic world.  They do it for their own selfish reasons the vast majority of the time.  I want a cute baby to cheer me up.  I want a reason to live.  I want someone to take care of me when I'm elderly.  Selfish, selfish, selfish.
I know things are backwards.  It's acceptable to bring people & animals into this world and to eat meat.  What a freaking crock.  It is not a good thing to bring people or animals into this world (Of course, I'm not including animals.  It's perfectly natural for them to follow their instincts and procreate.  But we, as people, know this is a brutal world of pain, and we should recognize that.)  And of course animals deserve to be here (They are here.), and shouldn't be tormented by people.
Sorry if I bugged ya.  Most vegans post recipes: not me.

World of Misery

I believe this really is a world of misery.  I'm just being real.  I continue to not be able to find a job as I slide further into credit card debt.  I wish that I'd never been born.  Call me a bitcher, call me a whiner; you can even call me a gloomy Gus.  But don't say I'm full of poop.  I'm not full of poop; I'm keeping it real.
I've said it before, but it's worth saying again.  Parenthood is the big lie.  Parents bring their children into this rotten, brutal world.  They do it out of selfishness.  They know this is a cruel world, in which so many people are living miserable lives.  It must be pretty great to wake up in the morning if you're Mick Jagger or Paul McCartney, but for most of the rest of us, it probably isn't.  So many people toil away at jobs they hate, which erode their souls a little more each day.
I've never brought a person or an animal into this violent, vulgar world, and I'm proud of that.  I plan to never do so.  That's all part of the reason why I didn't have sex for 17 years: from age 27-44.  Unfortunately, my parents can't say the same.
I got a little sidetracked, which happens in this pain-in-the-ass world.  I should explain how biological parents are selfish.  They bring people into this world for themselves.  They want to cheer themselves up.  Maybe they're suicidal, and they want to give themselves a reason to live.  The reality of the situation is that they bring their children into a world that is full of violence, brutality, and misery.  Care to argue with me about that?  How could you possibly do so?
I'm growing tired of this.  I could go on forever like this, but I'm really only posting because I owe one.  This is a little joke I tell myself; I'd kill myself if I had the energy.  Funny, huh?

Be Different; Don't Have Kids

Young Groundhog in Love
I mean don't bring them into this world.  People who adopt, whether humans or animals, and are exemplary adoptive parents, are heroes because they give a home to someone who needs one.  People who adopt human children, as far as I'm concerned, "clean up someone else's mess," which means they pick up the ball after a biological parent has dropped it (so to speak).  I have very strong feelings about biological parenthood.  I have never impregnated a woman, and therefore never brought someone into this wicked world, and I am very proud of that.
Why do so many people bring other people into this world?  This planet has been plagued with brutality and misery from the beginning.  The strong and vicious have been preying on the weak and timid from the get-go.  What must we deal with in our lifetimes?  Pain, bullying, intimidation, ridicule, humiliation, insults, job loss, threat of violence, threat of horrible fates like becoming paralyzed, sickness, disease, injury, deterioration of mind and body as a result of old age, death of friends and loved ones, and, ultimately, one's own death.
Uh-uh.  Not good enough for my kids: my kids that don't exist.  I refuse to bring my kids into this world.  So many things could happen to them.  As children, they could be abducted, raped, tortured, and murdered.  It has happened to many children.  Why would I bring them into a world where this horrible scenario is a distinct possibility?
Because I'm not selfish enough to do so.  I suspected that the reason why many people become biological parents is because they are selfish.  Perhaps they are unhappy, and they feel a cute little baby will cheer them up or give them a reason to live.  Then there's the reason that, unsolicited, was presented to me at my workplace.  A coworker asked me if I had kids, and I said no.  Then she asked me if I wanted to have kids, and I said no.  Then she asked me, "Don't you want to have someone to take care of you when you get older?"
There it was: selfishness on display.  According to my coworker, I should have kids for my sake, not theirs.  They should have to suffer in this hateful world until it's time for them to take care of me.  I disagree with such a notion.  That's why it's obvious to me that I care more about my (nonexistent) children than ANY biological parent cares about their kids.
Overpopulation, what a problem.  Oil will run out at some point and so will clean drinking water.  People who can't even support themselves are bringing children into this world, that, of course, they can't support.  The more people there are in this world, the worse it is for the animals who share it with us.  We knock down more wilderness, driving the animals who live there out of their homes, so we can build more buildings for ourselves.  Meat-eaters will raise more meat-eaters, insuring that animals will continue to be enslaved under concentration camp-like conditions.  We take everything from them: a chance to live natural lives, follow their natural instincts, and be content, their freedom, their lives, and their dead bodies.  We have created a nightmare world for Earth's animals.  Even if everyone suddenly gave a damn about animals, became vegan, and demanded that all livestock be freed immediately, it obviously couldn't be done because road kills would increase exponentially.
Granted, my own experience in life colors my attitudes about life on Earth.  I have been afflicted with depression and OCD.  I am the result of a teen pregnancy, and my father had left our little family by the time I was two years old.  But when approximately one million people commit suicide worldwide every year, I'm not the only one who isn't happy as a clam.  If you really want to have a kid (or a pet), and you're willing to do whatever it takes to be an exceptional parent, I implore you to adopt.  It really is the right thing to do.
